OpenDAFF applications

The DAFFTool and DAFFViewer applications are open source and can be downloaded for free from Sourceforge (see below). They let you inspect DAFF files, display metadata, and visualize directional audio content with 2D and 3D plots. Also, they can export single data sets for a certain direction.
OpenDAFF does not provide DAFF file writer functionality. For more information how to write DAFF files with Matlab, see the Content section.

DAFFTool cli application

In the source code of the OpenDAFF project, you will find an application that can show general information and metadata of DAFF files using command line prompts. A binary executable is included in the current version (v1.7) for Windows 64-bit platforms that is available from the files section of the Sorceforge project page.

DAFFViewer Qt application

In the source code of the OpenDAFF project, you will find an application that can display general information and metadata of DAFF files. It can also visualize the content in a 2D and 3D widget, i.e. to show the balloon plot of an energetic frequency-domain directivity or a carpet plot for time data. A binary executable is included in the current version (v1.7) for Windows 64-bit platforms that is available from the files section of the Sorceforge project page.

Note: DAFFViewer only displays the content of a DAFF file in a way that fits best. It is not an HRTF viewer tool that can convert between domains and plot different views. If you have an HRIR and want to create balloon plots, use ITA-Toolbox to export a HRTF with the resolution you desire.
